Blogging for Dollars

A fascinating article published in Business 2.0 discusses the growing power of blogging in terms of generating revenue. Makes me think I should spend more time on my blogs instead of just treating them as a side-project for my free time.

A few key points of the article:

Overall Web advertising is expected to grow by 50 percent to $23.6 billion in 2010.

Two new blogs are launched every second.

Fark.com is expected to be the first blog to top 1 million dollars in profit.

Allowing your visitors to make their own comments

Robert Blackstone has released an exciting new
script called Instant Site Comments.

It makes your site interactive by allowing your
visitors to post comments to each of your articles.
This will give you a nice boost in the search engines
as your visitors build your content for you.

It's perfect for webmasters who use PLR articles.
Comments will help the search engines distinguish
your articles from others on the web and remove
the possibility of being punished for 'duplicate
content'.

The script is easy to install and you only need to
add 2 lines of code to each page that you want to
add comments to.

It's a useful tool and a great way to move your site
towards Web 2.0. Rather than a site full of static
pages, you'll create a dynamic community in which
people can discuss topics themselves instead of just
reading about them. This will keep your site "sticky"
and ensure that you have lots of repeat visitors.

Plus, you can use the script on as many sites as you
want. You don't need to purchase a license for each one.
